Meet Your Teacher
Hi, I’m Hannah, and I created Worker Bee Yoga in 2021 to help people who aren’t the typical ”yoga type” to discover the benefits of yoga.
I’ve been practising yoga for more than 14 years and know how powerful gentle movement and breath can be in helping you feel more comfortable and at home in your body.
I created this Mum & Baby Yoga course because the early months of motherhood can be both wonderful and physically demanding. Feeding, holding and generally looking after your baby leaves many of us feeling tired, stiff or disconnected from our bodies. It’s hard to find the time to exercise, and it’s not always easy to find spaces where you feel comfortable bringing your baby along.
Alongside my yoga teacher training, I’ve completed specialist training in postnatal yoga so that these classes support the needs of the postnatal body in a safe and thoughtful way. Plus we’ll incorporate a bit of baby yoga and songs to keep your little one entertained too!
I teach yoga locally in Hitchin and online. As a new mum myself, I understand how valuable it can be to find a friendly, non-judgemental space where you can move gently, reconnect with your body and meet other mums navigating this stage of life too!
What People Say About Worker Bee Yoga…
-
Ami
“There's kind of ‘yoga clique’ that I’ve never felt part of. In my head, it's because I'm not a ‘yogi’. From my first class with you, I just felt a big relief. It felt welcoming and for any ability. I just felt really comfortable.”
-
Debbie
“I did not feel awkward and uncomfortable and it was explained well and at a pace I could keep up with.”
-
Laura
“You explain everything in a way that makes sense. And give adaptions as well, if needed. When I had the problem with my hips, we worked out a way that I could then do a specific pose in a different way. Knowing that there are ways around things gives me more confidence.”
FAQs
Do I need to have done yoga before?
No. This class is suitable for complete beginners and all movement is guided and optional.
How soon after birth can I attend?
You are welcome to join from around 8 weeks post-birth, once you have had the all-clear from your GP or midwife. If you’re unsure whether the class is right for you yet, feel free to email Hannah on hannah@workerbeeyoga.co.uk.
What if my baby cries, needs feeding or won’t settle?
That’s completely expected and normal! Babies can feed, sleep, cry, wriggle or need cuddles during the class. You’re free to pause, settle your baby or simply sit and watch whenever you need to.
What if I’m feeling tired or not ready to do much movement?
That’s absolutely fine. You are always encouraged to move at your own pace. You can rest, take breaks or simply observe whenever you need to. The class is about gently reconnecting with your body, not pushing or achieving anything.
Do babies take part in the yoga too?
The classes focus mainly on supporting your postnatal recovery, but we do include babies with simple movements, songs and interaction to keep them gently stimulated.
What if I arrive late?
Late arrivals are very common as babies tend to operate on their own schedule! You’re welcome to come in quietly and join whenever you arrive.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
A blanket for your baby
Any favourite toys or comfort items
A cushion if you would like extra comfort while sitting or feeding (it can also give you some nice extra padding for some of the poses!)
Yoga mats and props are provided.
Is the course suitable once my baby is crawling?
The class is best suited to babies from around 8 weeks until they are confidently crawling. If your baby is becoming more mobile, feel free to get in touch to check whether the class will still feel supportive for you.
Do I need to book the full course?
Yes, the class runs as a 5-week course, which helps create a consistent and supportive group of mums and babies. If the course is not fully booked, a small number of drop-in spaces may occasionally be available.
